Gianluca Mennella
Chef
Gianluca Mennella was born in Emilia-Romagna in 1990. He grew up in Olbia, where he studied Humanities. In 2009, he went back to northern Italy to become a professional cook, and graduated from Gualtiero Marchesi's Alma. In 2010, Gianluca started his career in Bergamo, at Hotel San Marco's Roof Garden, managed by chef Fabrizio Ferrari. In 2011, he worked with Sergio Mei at Milan's Four Seasons Hotel. In 2012, he joined Andrea Aprea at Park Hyatt Milan, when restaurant VUN collected the city's first Michelin star for a five-star luxury hotel. The following year, he worked with Attilio di Fabrizio at the 2013 World's Most Beautiful Hotel Villa San Michele in Fiesole. After accumulating luxury restaurants and Michelin-starred chefs around Italy, Gianluca expanded his career portfolio between 2014 and 2015 through two working experiences in London and Paris. For the former, he put himself in the service of two-starred chef Brett Graham at “his” Ledbury. The latter was at owner of Emporio Armani Caffè Massimo Mori's Venice Bar. Meanwhile, he returned home to Sardinia to work for Hotel Cala di Volpe and Hotel Pitrizza, both under Chef Franco Guardone's direction. Gianluca's dedication and craftsmanship do not go unnoticed to those who come across him. Currently, he is splitting his time between Sardinia and the United States, where he has accepted a number of offers for private chef positions – his mind being set on opening his first restaurant.
